James A. SaraceniAttorney at Law · Norwalk, Connecticut Call (203) 853-2700

Privacypolicy.

Effective October 5, 2026. This describes what the office collects through this website, phone calls and texts, and what it does with it.

What is collected

When you use the contact form, the office collects your name, phone number, and anything else you choose to enter: email, the kind of matter, the town, and what happened. When you call the office number, an answering system may take a message, and if the call is not answered directly it may be handled by Grace, the office's AI intake assistant, which asks for the same kind of information a receptionist would and may record the call. Connecticut requires all parties to a recorded call to be told the call may be recorded; Grace says so at the start of every call, and calls Attorney Saraceni takes himself are never recorded. When you text the office, the content of that text and your number are kept as part of the office's records. Contact-form messages are stored in a private inbox that only the attorney can open, and are deleted automatically after 180 days unless the office has opened a matter for you. With every form submission the office also records the time, the page it was sent from, the IP address and the browser type, which serves as the record of the submission and of whether the text-message box was checked.

Only if you allow analytics (see your privacy choices), the office also receives visit statistics from PostHog: which pages were viewed, which buttons and links were used (such as the phone number, the email address and the form), how far down a page you read and for how long, which questions were opened, where on a page clicks land (no text), what kind of device and browser you use, how you reached the site, and your approximate city. These are tied to a random identifier in your browser, never to your name. Analytics never records what you type into the contact form, never records your screen or a video of your visit, and is never used for advertising. It is used only to see which pages are useful and to improve the site.

Based on how long a page has been read, the site may show a one-time prompt offering to call the office or send the contact form. That prompt is decided in your browser; it does not use or collect any personal information, and you can close it.

Information you type into the form or tell the office about a charge, an arrest or a family matter is treated as sensitive. It is used only to respond to you and, if you become a client, to handle your matter. It is never used for analytics, advertising or profiling.

How it is used

Information collected through the form, a call or a text is used to respond to your inquiry, to arrange the free consultation, and to communicate with you about the matter you raised. It is not sold, and it is not used for advertising.

Texting

If you check the text box on the contact form, or call the office, the office or Grace may text the number you provided a confirmation that your message was received, or, if a call did not go through, a link back to this form. These are informational messages about your own inquiry — never marketing, never a recurring subscription, and never shared with a third party for their own marketing purposes. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop texts from this number, or HELP for help. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes; that information is not shared with any third party outside what is needed to deliver the message itself (the office's messaging provider, Twilio).

Who else sees it

The office uses outside providers to run this site and its phone system, each bound to use information only to provide their service: Twilio (calls and texts), Retell and ElevenLabs (the AI voice assistant and call transcription), Vercel (website hosting), Upstash (the private inbox where contact-form messages are stored), Apple, Google and Mozilla (delivery of an encrypted new-message alert to the attorney's phone), PostHog (website analytics, only if you allow it) and OpenStreetMap (the map on the Contact page, only if you allow it). Each is limited to providing its service to the office. Your information is not sold and is not shared with anyone for their own advertising.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses a small number of essential cookies to run, and, only with your permission, analytics cookies and an embedded map. See your privacy choices to choose what loads, opt out of sale or sharing, and clear what has been stored in your browser. A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser is honored automatically.

California residents

California residents have the right to know what personal information the office has collected, to request its deletion, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. The office does not sell personal information. To exercise a right under California law, contact the office using the details below or use the privacy choices page.

Connecticut residents

To the extent Connecticut's data privacy law applies to the office, Connecticut residents may ask the office to confirm whether it is processing their personal data, to give them access to it and a copy, to correct inaccuracies, and to delete it, and may opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data and profiling. The office does not engage in targeted advertising, does not sell personal data and does not profile. A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser is honored as an opt-out. Make a request by emailing jim@jsaracenilaw.com or calling (203) 853-2700; the office will respond within 45 days. If the office declines a request you may appeal by replying to that response, and the office will answer the appeal within 60 days. If the appeal is denied, you may contact the Connecticut Attorney General's office at portal.ct.gov/ag. Some records the office must keep for professional reasons cannot be deleted while those obligations apply.

Not a secure or confidential channel

Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome. Every case turns on its own facts. Nothing on this site is legal advice, and contacting the office does not create an attorney-client relationship. The contact form and text messages are not encrypted, secure channels: leave out anything you would not want read by someone else until you have spoken with the office directly.

Data retention

The office keeps call, text and form records for as long as they are useful to the matter they relate to and as required by its professional obligations, and deletes or archives them afterward. Analytics data is kept by the analytics provider for a limited period and is deleted on request.

Children

This site is directed at adults seeking legal representation. The contact form and the text-message program are for people 18 or older, and the office does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 through this site. If you are contacting the office about a minor, a parent or guardian should do so. If you believe a minor has sent information through this site, contact the office and it will be deleted.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time; the effective date above will change when it is.
